HUMSS 101


Struggles of a HUMSS student
Too much research.
In this strand, doing research is something that you can't avoid, just like math. Different studies and theories are the main thing of HUMSS and more likely HUMSS students are stressed of. Research is life mga dudes.
Too much reading.
Ugh, yes, I am telling you. We HUMSS students must read a lot. Well, reading is part of the curriculum in all schools and subjects, but in HUMSS it pertains to a deeper knowledge. That is why you also need to use your critical thinking skills and understanding more.
Memorizing cannot be avoided.
I guarantee you that this is one of the real struggles of a HUMSS student. Ang daming imememorize sis. Terminologies, research techniques, speech and such. Basta kapag nag HUMSS ka, di mawawala pagmememorize.
Lack of sleep.
I think we all experience this not just HUMSS students. Because of zillions of PeTas and homeworks, sabay mo pa yung mga imememorize saka research. Diba, mawawalan ka talaga ng pahinga. Pero despite all of this, go lang, laban lang.

To those who's curious about the daily basis of a HUMSS student
Not to pressure all of you whose planning to take up HUMSS, but just like any other strands it's hard. Oo, mahirap talaga. Darating talaga yung araw na papasok kang walang tulog. Papasok kang pagod, uuwi kang pagod. Everyday is a struggle. Pero nandyan naman yung mga taong tutulong sa'yo. You have your friends and some (kasi hindi lahat, yung iba pahirap talaga) professors that are ready to help, just try to ask them. May araw na wala kang iisipin kundi yung mga schoolworks.
We also have this specialization subjects that may seem easy, but it's not.
Specialization subjects:
Understanding Culture, Society and Politics, Disciplines and Ideas in the Social Sciences, Disciplines and Ideas in the Applied Social Sciences, Community Engangement, Solidarity and Citizenship.
So, yes, we are the next lawmakers, pedagogues, and politicians. We talk about a lot when it comes to literature, philosophy, communication, and psychology. We are not just "HUMSS lang". So, if you're going to take up HUMSS, its better to familiarize yourself about theories, social science, philosophy. psychology, mga Plato at Aristotle ganon.

1. It's for the maka-tao.
Because in HUMSS you will be given a chance to understand people. The causes and effects of what and why people did a certain thing. Para sa mga taong may kasabihan sa buhay na "Para sa Inang Bayan", but not specifically. It is for those who are willing to serve the people and for the country wholeheartedly as well.
2. It's for the curious-minded.
In HUMSS, you will encounter plenty of theories, philosophers and such. And you'll be needing to dig deeper in order to provide justifiable answers to your questions.
3. You'll learn to deduce the other sides of a story, issue. poems etc.
This is where critical thinking takes place. As we said, digging deeper in is a NEED in order for you to understand more and provide answers.
4. Its like you'll be waking up from a dream.
HUMSS is more like a reality than other strands. Studying the real issues and problems of a certain country or area is truly an eye-opener.
5. Your future career is very fulfilling.
If interacting with different people is one of your assets then this strand suits for you. You will surely have fun talking and exchanging ideas with different persons with different social and cultural backgrounds. Imagine gaining tons of information and being able to share it with other people. Being in the HUMSS strand gives you the chance to make a mark in the world!
